About Fairwell
Fairwell is an independent funeral price-comparison and concierge service for Atlanta families — built on one observation: the same cremation costs $795 at one metro funeral home and $4,160 at another, and almost nobody finds out until after they’ve paid.
Why we exist
More than half of families contact exactly one funeral home, and only around 18% of funeral homes publish prices online. The FTC Funeral Rule has required itemized price lists since 1984 — but the comparison work still lands on grieving families with 48 hours to decide. Fairwell does that work instead: we compile every provider’s published General Price List data, verify it, and negotiate on the family’s side of the table. Free for families; funeral homes pay us, not you.
Who runs Fairwell
Austin Worthington — Founder
Austin is a consumer-advocacy researcher and marketing operator who built Fairwell’s price database from the FCAGA General Price List archive, provider GPL filings, and direct provider research across 61 Atlanta-metro funeral homes. He writes the Fairwell blog and maintains the pricing methodology.
What we are not
We are not a funeral home. We do not sell caskets, urns, or insurance. We never take custody of your loved one, and the funeral contract stays between you and the provider — exactly as the FTC Funeral Rule intends. Read more in how Fairwell works.
